The Computer Operations Department maintains and upgrades the ship's computers, provides programming services, and facilitates the usability of both to ensure instant information retrieval, data processing and storage. The main and back-up computer cores are constantly checked and re-checked for errors. The engineering computer core is checked with the engineering department to ensure that everything is functioning at its optimum level. It is through the computer that all departments are linked and function together. It is imperative that the computer works for the ship and its personnel to exist.

It is a goal that all members within this department have the rank of Ensign or higher by taking OTS, or through meeting attendance, activities, etc. leading to points acquired toward promotion).

Positions within the department:

The Department Head or Chief is responsible for the delegating manpower to maintain the smooth running of the ship's computer systems.

Analyst: Responsible for keeping the user (the crew) and the computer on talking terms so both can work together efficiently.

Archives: Responsible for making sure computer records are backed up and accessible at all times.

Maintenance: Responsible for the repair of computer terminals, and other hardware for the main and back-up computers so they will provide the best service to the users. Working with Engineering on the Optical Data Network is another important task for this section.

Programming: Responsible for keeping the programming bug free while coming up with new programs to enhance computer performance and capabilities.

Robotics: Responsible for working with Engineering in the programming, operation, and debugging of robots that can be used for dangerous missions, maintenance, etc.

Website: The Website Administrator and HTML Editor are required to be paid members of Starfleet and belong to this chapter. They work with the department head to maintain the ship's website.
